Recent research by RAND indicates that the United States ranks 28th for kindergarten readiness among other developed countries in the world. A 2009 study corroborates the findings revealing that low-income children in California fare particularly worse that their more resourced peers. Interestingly, the RAND research indicates that three keys factors can genuinely improve a child’s rate of scholastic success: educational interventions, quality written materials, and technology. For almost 50 years Orange Children & Parents Together has successfully addressed these factors outlined in the RAND report. OCPT’s educational intervention’s include high quality curriculum focusing on seven key learning domains with an average 92% increase in cognitive development. In addition to research-based teaching and learning strategies, OCPT incorporates a strong school-to-home literacy connection program called Raising a Reader into daily practices. Technology and access to computers are an integral part of all six child development centers at Orange Children & Parents Together. Recently, OCPT introduced iPads into each classroom for more hands-on teaching and learning experiences for our 0 to 5 year old students. Read more about the RAND research findings
